A simple way to start learning Chinese characters is by learning the 8 Basic Stroke — the fundamental building blocks of all characters — and they are : 點 (dot), 横 (line), 撇 (curve), 捺 (press), 豎 (vertical), 折 (corner), 鈎 (hook), and 提 (pick).
Practice tracing these basic strokes helps little ones see how each character comes together like a picture, with one colorful stroke at a time.
